Its been a huge week at the house, not just with the building but also on a family level. We found out that the youngest member of our family has to have his tonsils out pretty sharpish, they are so huge they are causing him to stop breathing at night! Not ideal, this new nugget of information has pushed our schedule and given us a new sense of urgency because I really don’t want to have a little one recovering from surgery in a half built house. So you know, as always no pressure!
The first thing that happened since I last wrote was the carpet was installed in the hall and bedrooms, crikey what a difference that made, I then finished the walls in the master bedroom and voila we have our first finished room!
And another quick before and after picture of LJs Room.
Josh took a day off work last Friday so we could attack the flooring. Its a massive job and he has done amazing (with the exception of a couple of blood blisters and a giant bruise were he hit his leg with the mallet when he missed the nail gun.) We also actually made a pretty good team! He cut and measured and I banged each piece in to place, then we took it in turns to nail everything down. LJ even helped by selecting the wood for each section of the floor and carrying it over, it was a real family affair and I’m going to be able to see the floor and fondly remember all the arguments we had doing it! (Ha ha just kidding.)
Since the weekend I have also completed the painting in the dining room and prepped and painted the trim in the living room. The walls in the living room are today’s task. We have decided come hell or high water we will be moving in a week on Saturday, which will give us a month before surgery to get sorted. I’m prioritizing projects now to make sure the house is clean and functioning. Things like trim will just have to wait!
So yes! A busy week – only two and half rooms to go and 9 days to do it!!
